Well, I’m disappointed that a Twilight book beat out Harry Potter. I can’t stand Twilight and if you can, feel free to debate about it with me ^_^ Mostly, it’s because of Bella, the queen of Mary Sues, but then there are many more reasons which I’ve love to discuss. Not that I have anything against the author, just her Twilight saga…
I adore the Harry Potter series and am terribly sad it is over. The seventh was easily my favourite and while I believe it should have received first place, second is respectable. I could go on for hours honestly, about the series, but I’ll save that for it’s own blog post. Spolier! —> Harry Potter Death Song by my two amazing friends Carleena and Corie
Then Extras made number eight! The Uglies trilogy is icy to the max. I’ve never been more wrapped into books, or characters (Tally Youngblood). Extras was not as icy, but definitely bubbly and worthy of number eight if not higher. Kudos to Scott Westerfeld, a brilliant author.
Speaking of Scott Westerfeld: he pointed out in his blog “a three-legged, crab-walking microbot developed in South Korea.” Ever heard of nanotechnology? Well this is more like millitechnology, so not quite small enough yet, but tres intriguing. What’s crazy about this tiny bot is that it’s polymer powered by rat’s heart. Check out Scott Westerfeld’s blog to see this tiny bot in action. Then check out the rest of the blog and meet the brilliant author of the Uglies trilogy and many more great books.
That’s about it for today. Julie-wa out.
Oh&and:
Listening to: The Call – Regina Spektor (in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, a film based on the amazing book Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia part of an amazing seven books The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis).
Currently reading: rereading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, reading (or trying to >.<) Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice (I like it, but I’m not getting far too fast… and typically I read books straight through or practically straight through, I dunno, it’s just… hmm, maybe there’s a film?).

Gosh, Julie-chan, if I had the attention span to keep up a blog, it would be something like yours.
I’m so glad that the entire teen population isn’t totally infatuated with the Twilight series. It’s so generic and the characters are so bland, it joins Sara Palin in the “how stupid do people think we are?” category. I mean, come on? A vampire love story? A new girl who’s super clumsy and unsure of herself? Hm, never heard of *that* plotline before!
My favorite of the series was New Moon. *Especially* the parts that didn’t have Edward. Eclipse at the Top of the ALA list completely illegitimizes the reliability if the rest of the recommendations. Why reward a book that merely dragged on the same plot for 3 installments (possibly 4, but I didn’t read Breaking Dawn).
“I love you!”
“I love you too, but I’m dangerous!”
“I don’t care!”
“You should. I–and everyone else in the world–want to kill you.”
“Make me a vampire too!”
“No.”
For THREE books!
Ay, dios mio…
Icy to the max!
My online friend Laura who I have been role-playing with for about 5 years now, (she hasn’t read Uglies yet, but I might have convinced her) is one of the biggest anti-twilighters I know and we have so much fun pointing out how non-icy the Twilight series is. I read them only so I could fairly debate how they are not the least bit icy.
There are many sites and comics that are anti-twilight but my computer crashed recently so I lost about a million favourites… I’ll try to track down the links and I’ll probably post some on here soon.
And yeah – I started the blog recently – I’ve made some before but kept letting them go. Hopefully I’ll stick to it this time.
And I really love your summary of the plot, it’s perfect.
Oh, Audrey-sensei,
Julie-wa would be my title.
^_^
